With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, PILLOWMAN centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.

Cast requirements:
4 men 25-50
1 woman and 1 man – 35-40

There are several roles for juveniles – male and female. Please call the Playhouse for further information regarding the juvenile roles. This is a dark comedy. Parental permission will be required for participation by minors.

Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. Cuttings will be available at the Playhouse office after Sept. 1st. Hours are M-F 10-4.

Performance dates: January 14th -22nd. (Fri. and Sat. only – no Sundays) Rehearsals will be split to avoid the holidays. Those cast should be available the first three weeks of Nov, 2-3 days the week between Christmas and New Years and then every day the two weeks prior to the show.
