Youngstown Playhouse Announces 2011-2012 Season

The Youngstown Playhouse announces exciting line-up for next season

The Youngstown Playhouse is announcing another great season that offers something for everyone! Whether you like drama, humor, tragedy, or music, the Youngstown Playhouse has it all with the new season beginning this fall.

The 2011-2012 season features classics such as Romeo and Juliet and To Kill a Mockingbird. The Playhouse will continue its tradition of offering the ever-popular musicals with three shows with song already slated. Next season features Gypsy and an unusual “solve-it-yourself musical” where you get to choose the ending in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Plus, celebrate the holidays with a Youngstown Playhouse special event Scrooge the Musical. A second special event, To Be Young, Gifted, and Black, is scheduled for February.

Entering its second season, the Griffith Adler Series continues to tackle difficult or controversial themes, acted out in the smaller, more intimate Moyer Room. Buried Child deals with the breakdown of the traditional American family, and Boston Marriage depicts the struggles of two young female lovers at the turn of the twentieth century. Circle Mirror Transformation is a play within a play, as the five characters are students in an acting class, and the audience witnesses their journey together.
